Duties of the Dean

  1. Supervising the management of the college's educational, research, administrative, financial and cultural affairs in order to achieve the higher goals and policies of the university .
  2. Implementing the decisions of the University Council with regard to the Deanship  .
  3. Chairing the College Council, following up the implementation of its decisions after their approval, and conducting the administrative, financial and academic work of the College.
  4. Approving the transfer of the student from outside the university in accordance with the executive rule 42 of the regulations . Study and tests for the undergraduate stage.
  5. Approving the student's study as a visitor in accordance with the executive rule of Article 50 of the study regulations . and undergraduate tests.
  6. Approving the postponement of the student's admission to postgraduate studies in accordance with Article 21 of the Unified Regulations for Postgraduate Studies in Universities and their executive base.
  7. Approving the postponement of the student's studies at the postgraduate stage in accordance with Article 22 of the Unified Regulations for Postgraduate Studies in Universities and their executive rule.
  8. Approving the transfer from one major to another in the college in accordance with the controls of the College Council .
  9. Approving the results of the final exams for college students .
  10. Nominating the college's vice deans and heads of departments, and submitting them to the university president in accordance with the provisions of the system and regulations.
  11. Approving the application for college employees to join internal and external courses.
  12. Delegate some of his powers to the college vice-deans according to the competence of each vice-dean, in a way that contributes to facilitating work and speeding up and facilitating procedures.
  13. Forming temporary committees from within the college, and proposing standing committees according to work requirements.  
  14. Proposing plans and programs to help develop performance administratively, academically, research and various activities and presenting them to the College Council.
  15. Providing the President of the University and the Vice Dean associated with the College with an annual report that includes the most important achievements and areas of work development, and the most prominent proposals that would improve the level of performance.
  16. Determine the college's needs of human resources and material needs, request their insurance and follow up on what is approved by them.
  17. Determine the needs of the college in its field of competence in coordination with the concerned authorities.
  18. Assigning work outside the official working hours for the employees of the college associated with it, in accordance with the regulations and powers .
  19. Termination of the tasks of the college employees.      
  20. Disbursement from the advance allocated to the college within the limits of the purposes stipulated in the advance decision.
  21. Disbursement from college warehouses as needed, follow-up inventory, and ensure the safety of storage.
  22. Approving the college's employees' enjoyment of regular vacations, and informing the competent authorities at the university about their commencement of work, delay, or interruption to take the necessary measures.
  23. Contact his counterparts, and whoever the interest of the work requires, taking into account the job level.
  24. Setting internal instructions and executive controls to help achieve the college's mission, and provide its services in a manner that reflects the university's mission and objectives.
  25. Evaluating the performance of the college's vice deans, heads of academic departments of the college, directors and heads of units        Affiliated with him.
  26. Raising disciplinary issues with regard to students and college employees in accordance with the rules and regulations.
  27. Nominating committees to review the curricula of the scientific and academic departments, evaluate them periodically, and follow up the implementation of their recommendations after their approval by the competent councils.
  28. Approving the schedules of lectures and practical lessons provided by the scientific departments of the college .
  29. Issuing the necessary decisions to organize the examination work when needed.
  30. Determining the numbers nominated for admission in each semester, based on the study and review conducted by the college, and presenting this to the College Council, and then presenting it to the Vice President to whom the college is associated.
  31. Approving the minutes of the departmental councils, or making a comment on them within 15 days from the date of their arrival thereof, provided that this does not entail financial obligations that are not available in the college's budget, or that are not approved in advance.
  32. Activating the role of scientific research committees to support their march in the college.
  33. Develop special programs that the college can contribute to community service, and provide views. And the recommendations related to this to the Vice President of the University to which the college is linked, and supervise the implementation of what the university approves in this regard regarding the college.
  34. Proposing an annual plan for scientific and cultural works and activities, seminars and conferences that fall within the college's competencies and activities, through which it can contribute to achieving the university's objectives in coordination with the Deanship of Student Affairs to be presented to the College Council.
  35. Proposing the draft budget of the college and preparing its five-year plans, following up on its implementation and coordinating with the Vice President of the University to which the college is associated, and the competent university departments and presenting them to the College Council .
  36. Recommending the extension of the faculty member after the end of service in accordance with the rules and regulations.
  37. Coordinate the work of the advisory board of the college, and implement its recommendations in a manner that does not conflict with the university's policy and regulations.
  38. Work on developing the college's own financial resources, strengthening them and improving its mental image in coordination with the Investment and Self-Resources Development Department at the university.
  39. Applying quality, evaluation and academic accreditation systems and regulations in the college.
  40. Recommending the renewal and termination of contracts of non-Saudi faculty members in coordination with the heads of       Departments in accordance with the rules and regulations.
